On November 21st, 2011 the CTRC held a series of hearings. Within’ these proceedings was the final “appeal” hearing for Glen Ferguson’s application to create a low watt community station.
From the time of this hearing, it could take up to 90 days for the official decision to be released.
Glen Ferguson was not required to be present at these hearings.
Prior to the hearing day, a public “call for intervention’s” was sent out on a national basis via newspaper , press etc.
It was open to the public to submit support or intervention, there were two appeals from both the English commercial radio station, MAX 104.9 fm (Astral) and CKLE fm (French) both located in Bathurst.
Among the appeals received, there were also over 50 letters of support by various local associations, business, corporations and private citizens.
Glen Ferguson’s adjoining application to INDUSTRY Canada was accepted and the call letters and operating frequency of ’CJUJ-96.5 FM” were confirmed.
If a license is granted, it is hopeful that broadcasting may commence soon after the CRTC’s decision is made.
